If you are a Google or Microsoft school, STEER can configure the Single Sign On (SSO) so that staff and students can easily log into STEER using their existing Microsoft or Google accounts.
No more hassle sharing logins!
What is 'SSO'?
This refers to 'Single Sign On', the option to use the same login for multiple apps/websites. You'll have used it before, when websites offer the option to log in via Google or Microsoft. It's a great way to save time while keeping your data secure.
How to set it up:
- Let your School Manager know that you'd like to have the SSO set up and whether you need it for Google or Microsoft. If you don't know your school manager, you can email michelle@steer.global
- Inform your IT Department you would like the STEER app added to the MS/Google application list for the SSO and ask them to confirm when it's been approved.
- Test the SSO for both the Staff and Student login routes ahead of the assessment round.
Signing in using the SSO:
The SSO option to sign in comes after the school name and user type [teacher/student] is selected from the dropdown on the login page: https://steer.global/platform/edu/new-login-view
- Go to STEER's login page https://steer.global/platform/edu/new-login-view
- Select your school and select student or staff
- You will see the option to log in via Google or Microsoft below. Note that we only show the option which your school has set up,

4. Click and follow the instructions to log in. Note that students can only login with accounts which are linked to your school- they cannot use their personal emails.
5. ✅ Done!
Some things to be aware of
- You still need to import new students and staff into STEER. Google/Microsoft login only works for existing STEER accounts- this is to protect your data.
- You need to make sure that all students/staff have emails in STEER and that you have chosen to set emails as usernames. We will discuss this as part of the set up.
- Although set up is normally quick and easy, we would suggest doing it at a quiet time of year to give you plenty of time to test it and avoid putting too much pressure on your STEER assessments.
