After every STEER assessment, your teacher or tutor will look at every student’s data which includes yours and your friends. They will compare this latest assessment data with previous assessment data to see any patterns or if there has been a change in a student’s steering.
Sometimes a change is great news. A student may be steering better and getting back on track after a tough time. A teacher may chat to their student to find out what’s helped.
Sometimes a change is a heads up that a student might be going through a tough time right now. Their teacher will use the ideas in the STEER teacher toolkit to explore suggestions that could help their student. These are small simple ideas that can make a big difference!
Sometimes the teacher may notice a pattern amongst several students in their class or tutor group. Again the teacher toolkit can give them ideas to use in class or tutor time!
So let’s remember, teachers can't know every student really well, or have all the answers. The STEER toolkit helps them know which students may need a little extra signposting, and how to provide it!
