Think about your closest friends. Think how much they share with you, and how much you share with them. You may not tell each other everything; sometimes you or your friends may be coping with challenges or setbacks alone. If a friend was struggling, their friends, family and teachers may notice a change in their attendance, friendships or learning - but have no idea why the change has happened. Sometimes you may not see any changes at all, but inside a friend might be really struggling.
STEER will help your teachers see how all your friends are steering. If there’s a sudden change in a friend’s steering, they will notice and look for ways to help. So when your whole class or tutor group completes the STEER assessment, you’re committing to supporting your friends, and making sure no one is overlooked.
