If your school uses Wonde
If you use Wonde, any new students added to your MIS will be included in the weekly data sync and so no manual adding is necessary. Additionally, the Wonde sync can be triggered to pull across data by the SP or IT Lead as needed:
If your school does not use Wonde
If you usually import students via a CSV but need to add or edit a staff user after the main import, Admin or IT Manager users can do this as follows:
Go to Admin --> Data Management --> Staff Data --> Edit
To add a student
Click '+ New Student' and fill in the required data and remember to save!
🚨 Important: Please follow the naming convention being used by your school when adding new students. If you don't use full names, then it's important to create a pseudonym inline with other students to avoid confusing other members or staff. Typically, STEER uses:
First three letter of first name + Initial (if any) + First three letters or last name
We will automatically display their year group after the name on the platform.
To edit a student
Select the student you need to edit by using the tick box on the left hand side, then click 'edit student'. Make any changes necessary and remember to click save! If you have changed their username, it is very important resend/print any login emails/cards which they may be planning to use.
To remove a student
Select the student you need to remove by using the tick box on the left hand side, then click 'remove staff'. You will be asked for confirmation. For large batches, the removal may take several seconds to process the request, so please stay on the page until the entries have been deleted.
Note that STEER will automatically scramble the data of students who have left your school a few months into the next year, so you typically don't need to manually remove students for that reason.
