How to set permissions on Wonde

The first time you import students, you need to do it manually. From then on, we'll sync all your student data automatically! Find out how that works here.

✅  Things that need to be done first:

• Inform us that you want to use Wonde. If you are a new school, we will have asked you about this in your IT Starter Survey. We need to let Wonde know so that we get everything ready for you to sync.
• You should receive an email from them letting you know that we have requested to connect.

After that, you're ready to sync!

 

1️⃣  Log into the Wonde school portal as normal

2️⃣  Select STEER from the application list

3️⃣ From the headers, select Permissions

4️⃣  Now, go through each of these lists and update them as you want

When options are mandatory, there won't be a switch. If they are optional, you can switch it on and off. 

 

How to choose which data to share

The question of which optional data to import it to STEER is totally up to your school. Typically, this conversation involves your DPO and other stakeholders in STEER.

Here is a checklist which helps you choose which data is right for your school.

What optional data should we upload to STEER?

The names of the permissions on Wonde can be a little bit confusing if you aren't use to them.

You may notice that a few data types seem to have more than one permission associated with them (this can make the process a bit confusing...). This is because different MIS provided store their data differently. To make sure we can always find the data you want to share, we sometimes check multiple places- just in case one is empty. If you know exactly where each data type is stored, then you can switch the others off. However, most schools just leave them on.

5️⃣   Important: Are you going to be sharing full name data?

If your school has opted to use full name data (this will have been agree with STEER earlier), then you need make sure these four switches are switched on. Otherwise, make sure they are switched off.

From then on, we'll sync your data automatically once a week (including at the start of the year). In usual circumstances, you won't need to do a manual import ever again.
